About Us

A unified sanctuary for academic inquiry, creative literature, digital humanities, and independent cinema — published from Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Who We Are

Anusurja (অণুসূর্য) is Bangladesh's first multi-disciplinary publishing platform, bringing together scholarship, creative writing, and movement-image culture under a single institutional roof. Founded in Dhaka, we operate four interconnected wings — the Anusurja Research Journal, the Bunker Creative Journal, the Digital Humanities Lab, and the Cinema Hub — each with its own editorial identity yet united by a shared commitment to intellectual rigour and aesthetic courage. We are not a news outlet, a social media platform, or a commercial magazine. We are a publisher of record — every piece we host is edited, peer-reviewed or curated, archived, and assigned a permanent digital identifier.

Our Mission

To make knowledge and imagination visible — especially knowledge produced at the margins, in languages, geographies, and disciplines that global publishing hierarchies routinely overlook. We publish in English and Bengali, and we deliberately platform voices from South Asia, the Global South, and postcolonial traditions.

The Wings

Academic Research Journal
Anusurja Research Journal

Quarterly peer-reviewed journal publishing original scholarship in postcolonial studies, media criticism, and cultural sociology. Indexed, archival, open-access articles available freely; full PDF access via subscription.

Creative Journal
Bunker

Literary journal publishing short fiction, poetry, and essays — predominantly from Bangladeshi and South Asian writers working in English and Bengali.

Academic Computational Lab
Digital Culture and Eco Humanities Lab

An experimental research space for computational textual analysis, corpus linguistics, digital archive projects, and methodology papers at the intersection of technology and the humanities.

Cinema & New Media
Cinemite

A curated portal for independent films, documentary shorts, and cinema criticism — with a focus on Bangladeshi, South Asian, and Global South cinema.

Editorial Principles

  • Independence: We do not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or advertorials. Editorial decisions are made solely by our editors.
  • Rigour: Research submitted to the Journal undergoes double-blind peer review. Creative work is assessed by at least two editors.
  • Transparency: We publish our editorial board, our review process, our funding sources, and our ownership structure openly.
  • Openness: Research articles are published open-access. A subscription unlocks the full creative and cinematic archive, but we do not paywall scholarship.
  • Diversity: We actively seek work from underrepresented geographies, languages, and scholarly traditions. We publish in Bengali and English equally.

The Team

Anusurja is run by a small editorial and technical team based in Dhaka. Detailed editorial board information is available on each wing's Editorial Board page.
